DHL Supply Chain extends a £33.7 million contract with House of Fraser until 2012.  The extension of its existing contract, with the added inclusion of the retailer's e-commerce business and its recently launched wedding list service was awarded to DHL Supply Chain in March 2009.  Both companies worked in partnership to create an e-commerce solution that was incorporated into House of Fraser's supply chain operations for its 63 UK and Irish stores.  Based at the retailer's NDC in Milton Keynes.

NYK Logistics has had its brown goods contract renewed with Samsung Electronics UK.  NYK Logistics distributes all of Samsung's TVs, DVD players, home entertainment systems and digital cameras throughout the UK & Ireland.  Also, high value goods contract for mobile phones and white goods has been extended.

Seafreight - There has been significant volume decreases in Q2 compared with Q1, but its recovering in Q3.

Airfreight - Q3 shows a slight improvement in tonnages.

Acumen Logistics  wins a contract with DaiMay (Chinese Automotive polyurethane product manufacturer).  Acumen Logistics will provide an integrated logistics package for the supply of headrests to UK car makers.  It expects to ship around 540,000 pieces to the UK per year.  Acumen Logistics will manage the flow of goods and services from the receiving shipping containers of headrests at its warehouse in Redditch for delivery to customers.  Acumen Logistics's services include; devanning containers, visual inspection, repacking into line side boxes, storage and shipping on a just-in-time basis.

Ceva Logistics wins a contract with BMW.  Ceva Logistics will manage the delivery of spare parts to 200 BMW and MINI dealerships across the UK and Northern Ireland.  Ceva Logistics will transport goods using collaborative delivery services, specific to the requirements of moving automotive parts overnight.

DB Schenker wins a 3 year contract with Systagenix.  Systagenix Wound Management (subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) will start to operate its own global distribution network when moving away from the transition services being provided by Johnson & Johnson.  The creation of a best-in-class distribution network is an important objective for Systagenix.  DB Schenker will support Systagenix and carry out european logistics activities, including final deliveries to european customers from the Gargrave factory as well as from Girona (Northern Spain) and Prague (Czech Republic).  Girona and Prague serve as RDCs for Southern Europe and Central Europe respectively.  Other european customers are served directly from Gargrave.  Systagenix commits to deliver customer orders across Europe within 48 hours after placement of the order.  Regional fulfillment centres replenish from Gargrave on a weekly basis and under central inventory management.  Transportation between sites are carried out by DB Schenker.

Wincanton is restructuring its in house groupage network in Germany and joining a new groupage co-operation.  The restructure involves the closure of 3 loss-making depots.  Wincanton is also withdrawing from its current loss-making groupage activities at a further 4 locations to enable these sites to increase its focus on profitable warehousing and transport management opportunities.  The remaining sites which are already profitable, will continue with the current mix of warehousing and transport management but will in future contribute their groupage volumes into a new partnership with ILN, an existing pan-european network operator.

London City Bond wins a 3 year contract with Louis Latour Agencies (LLA).  LLA wines will be imported from around the world and stored at London City Bond's Barking warehouse.  Bottles will be picked to order for daily, just-in-time nationwide deliveries to the wine producer's 500 on-trade and off-trade customers.

Wincanton wins a contract with Micheldever Tyres.  Wincanton is to set up a direct import and trunking capability to handle all imported products.  Based at Wincanton's site in Kettering which will process 0ver 50,000 tyres per week before onward distribution into wholesale distribution centres to supply 22% of the UK tyre market.

TM Logistics wins a £1 million contract with Saint Gobain Isolver (SGI).  TM Logistics will transport up to 24 loads of insulation rolls and batteries per day from SGI's warehouse in Gotham, Nottinghamshire to customers across South England and East Anglia.  TM Logistics will provide warehousing support including inbound and outbound stock, loading vehicles and tracking product through the supply chain.

Geodis Calberson is investing £2 million into its expansion programme.  It plans to increase revenue and market share in all four sectors of the company in the next 12 months.  Geodis Wine Logistics is extending its services to provide global supply chain solutions.  It also has a strategic alliance with APC Overnight promoting a UK and Ireland Parcel Service.

Bibby Distribution is extending its Through-The-Night B2B delivery service and hopes to attract customers in other sectors.

NYK Logistics  has won the award for Best Health & Safety achievement in Transport and Logistics from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

Norbert Dentressangle wins a 2-year temperature controlled storage and distribution contract with Speedibake.

The Lloyd Fraser Group has recently received an accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practice amongst UK contractors.

Home Delivery Network has agreed a partnership with TNT.  Home Delivery Network can now help its clients reach consumers at home in over 200 countries.  Consumers will now be able to order products online and have them delivered to their homes wherever they may be in the world.

Kuehne & Nagel has been selected by Valeo Services (aftermarket branch of global automotive group) for the management and execution of inbound road logistics shipments from european suppliers to Valeo's service's national distribution platforms located in France, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Italy, Spain and Turkey.

Hellmann Worldwide logistics has made Matthew Marriott a member of the UK Board under the title of Commercial Director.  Matthew is now responsible for all production related areas of Hellmann's UK business.

The Co-operative Group has opened a £16 million automated distribution centre to serve its pharmacy's 800 branches.

Norbert Dentressangle's revenues recovers slightly and operating efficiency continues to improve:

Panalpina has won a contract with Giochi Preziosi Germany GmbH (toy distributor).  The contracts is for the supply chain management business in Germany including customer order management, 1,000 TEUs of ocean freight from Asia to Germany per year, warehousing, business to business distribution of roughly 10,000 shipments per year to Giochi Preziosi customers in Germany, Austria and Swizerland. 

Ceva logistics has won a 3 year contract with JVC Italia SpA.  Ceva logistics will manage handling, product storage, order preparation and transport across Italy, returns management services, administering the monitoring and heat shrinking of high value product packages, preparing special orders and the creation and management of a customer service for consumers.

Seafield logistics has won a 5 year contract with Tripp (luggage retailer).  Seafield will operate the 41,000 sqft warehouse at Worksop and will receive, store, pick and pack luggage.  Also, Seafield will provide logistics support for internet orders received through Tripp and Debenhams web sites.

Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Headlands Foods.  Norbert Dentressangle will distribute over 2 million own label ready meals per week to retailers throughout the UK from manufacturing sites at Flint, North Wales and Grimsby.  Norbert Dentressangle is using its shared-user temperature controlled network to provide a daily collection service from Headlands' manufacturing sites, storage within its cold store in Grimsby and onward distribution of products into major multiple retailer distribution networks.  Norbert Denetressangle will also handle Headlands' specialist aviation business, serving customers in the inflight catering sector.

Dachser has founded a new national company in Romania called Dachser S.R.L.  The new office offers transport logistics services to Romania and international customers from both industry and retail.  Daily services will link the first 3 branches in Arad, Brasov and Bucharest to Dachser's europe-wide overland freight network.

NYK Logistics has extended its contract with VW Logistics to provide inbound logistics for the delivery of components into Bentley Motors' manufacturing facility in Crewe.  NYK Logistics is responsible for the delivery of 6,000 different parts into the Crewe plant from 150 UK based suppliers and 460 suppliers throughout Europe.  Also, responsible for outbound movement and management of returnable packaging on a pan-european basis.  Bentley parts are cross-docked at NYK hubs in Germany and the UK before onward delivery direct into the plant at Crewe by a dedicated fleet of vehicles.

Agility Europe has appointed Sjaak Poot as Country Manager in Portugal.  Sjaak will be tasked with building the business in Portugal focusing on the development of the existing road freight network, maintaining high service levels and increased departure frequencies.  Also, he will strengthen air and sea services with the growing markets in the Far East, India, Angola and Mozambique.

DHL Supply Chain extends its contract with REHAU for a further 5 years, worth £20 million.  DHL Supply Chain is in charge of primary distribution of 40,000 tonnes of UPVC, steel and aluminium per year from REHAU's production facility in Blaenau Ffetiniog, North Wales to the 190,000 sqft NDC in Widnes, Cheshire.  Also, DHL Supply Chain operates the NDC and handles national secondary distribution to customers, extending to 2,300 field locations.

Kuehne & Nagel has won a contract with Magna Exteriors & Interiors (supplier of exterior vehicle appearance systems).  Kuehne & Nagel will coordinate and transport shipments from all European suppliers to the consolidation centre in Chemnitz, Germany.  Kuehne & Nagel will then manage the entire just-in-sequence delivery to the Kaluga production site.  Also includes, export handling as well as daily overland transportation from Chemnitz to Kaluga.

UPS has been appointed official logistics and express delivery supporter of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic games.  UPS will operate the games logistics and command centre and provide logistics services to venues, warehouse services and transport network of vans and lorries that links them.  Also, UPS will be responsible for courier services and forwarding of all items coming through customs and infreight for the 205 teams from around the world competing at the games.

Pantos Logistics has won a contract with LG Electronics.  The contract is for the management of courier and the inland trunking service of LG Electronics service parts across Europe.
