Ceva Logistics has won a contract with Goodyear Lastikleri in Turkey.  The contract is for the provision of full-truck loads and LTL distribution services from Goodyear's Adapazari and Izmit plants to dealers and auto manufacturers throughout Turkey.

ACS&T has won a 3 year contract with 3663.  The contract is for the provision of a national consolidation service from its depot in Wolverhampton.  Also, offers case consolidation distribution to all 3663's 32 depots.

Norbert Dentressangle appoints Brian McDill as its new Solutions & Operations Director.  Brian is now responsible for business development, solution design, IT and technical services in order to grow the business in the FMCG, Retail, Manufacturing and Multi-temperature controlled sectors.  Brian came from Wincanton.

Tesco plans to open a new dot come store.

London City Bond has won a 3 year contract with Adel UK.  London City Bond will store around 65,000 cases of Adel's beers, wines and spirits at its Barking warehouse.  The bottles will then be picked to order and delivered to wine merchants' retail and wholesale customers, including all Makro branches nationwide.

Ceva Logistics is on track to hit its cost savings target of €100 million by the end of the year.  It has seen a 21% increase in new business wins during the first 9 months of 2009 compared with the same period in 2008.  Chief Financial Officer Ruben McDougal says the company will continue to  'aggressively seek new business wins' well into 2010 into which it will channel some of the €100 million.

Unipart Technology Logistics has extended its contract with Sky.  Unipart carries out dedicated logistics and repair at its site in Baginton (Warwickshire) and tests, refurbishes and repairs Sky's set top boxes.  Unipart also does Sky UK's logistics and distribution activities 7 days per week for 5,000 inhouse and business partner field engineers nationwide and tests, screens, repairs and refurbishes boxes or captures the parts for recycling.

DHL Supply Chain extends its contract with BAA's Heathrow airport.  The £22.5 million contract is to operate the heathrow consolidation centre until late 2012.  DHL Supply Chain consolidates 700 inbound deliveries per week into 300 outbound.  DHL Supply Chain distributes to 323 retail and catering outlets within the airport.

Clipper Logistics announces a partnership with US retail brand Anthropologie who has opened its first branch in Regent Street, London.  Anthropologie specialises in vintage style clothes, accessories, jewelery, notebooks, decorations and homewares.  Clipper Logistics will process all stock for the store, retail ticketing for 7,000 SKUs, e-commerce and order fulfillment services to support its online business.

M&S Simply Food plans to open in hospitals.

Home Delivery Network has won a contract with The Grafton Group.  Home Delivery Network will work with Plumbworld and Toolbox.com to provide a 24 hour proof of delivery and Saturday services for the company.

AG Barr has plans to restructure its supply chain, closing its Mansfield site and the creation of 3rd party operated central distribution hub for the South of the country.

Tesco has won planning permission for a 113,021 sqft home delivery warehouse at Greenford (West London).  The new facility will serve customers within a 45 minute drive of the site.

Wincanton and Malcolm Logistics have announced that they are working together for Britvic, moving up to 50 lorry loads of goods from road onto rail from the Midlands to Scotland.

Nightfreight has won a home delivery contract with Rest Assured (beds and mattress manufacturer) to carry out 2 man home delivery services.  Nightfreight distributes from its national distribution hub in Willenhall with the consignment entering Nightfreight's shared-user network made up of over 50 locations nationwide for onward delivery to customers.  Around 1,000 beds and mattresses are handled per month.

Kuehne & Nagel is the first company to receive the Good Distribution Practice from Life Sciences Ireland.  The Good Distribution Practice standard recognises an increased need for further compliance and regulatory requirements in the international supply chain; logistics companies that comply with a set of defined criteria may be awarded the Life Sciences Ireland Good Distribution Passport.

City Sprint has won a 3 year contract with Air Liquide UK.  The contract is for the provision of same day courier services on a daily basis.  City Sprint is responsible for transporting Air Liquide's dry ice products to customers, including hospitals, universities, research organisations and food and pharmaceutical distributors across the UK.

DHL Supply Chain has taken over the road transport element of Marks & Spencer's store equipment contract based in Uttoxeter.  This was previously with Wincanton.

DHL Supply Chain has made a loss of 81 million euros in Q3 due to a 141 million euro charge from Arcandor.  The Group increased its previous target of 1.2 billion euros for underlying EBIT for 2009 to at least 1.35 billion euros.

  • Sales in Contract Logistics decreased 11.6% to 3.1 billion euros.
  • Total Group Sales decreased 18.6% to 11.2 billion euros.
  • Underlying EBIT decreased by 10% to 378 million euros due to cost savings.
  • Express Division: Sales were 131 million euros and underlying EBIT increased on previous year at 24 million euros.
  • Global Forwarding Freight division: Decrease of 30.4% to 2.4 billion euros and underlying EBIT decreased to 76 million euros.

Wincanton reports its results for the first half of 2009:

  • Underlying Operating Profits decreased by 15% to £236 million.
  • Sales decreased by 10% at £1,079.9 million.
  • Consolidated Underlying Operating Profit Margin was at 2.4%.
  • Operations in the UK & Ireland reported an underlying Operating Profit of £24.4 million which was a decrease of 6.2% on the same period last year.
  • Sales were at £663.4 million, 10.4% decrease on the same period last year.

Potter Group reports Profit Before Tax of £320,000 for the year ended 30th April 2009 which was significantly lower than the £840,000 on the previous year.  This was attributed to the demise of Rosebys which had its national distribution at the Group's Selby site.

TDG wins a contract with The Entertainer to runs its 175,000 sqft warehouse located in Swindon and its transport operations.  The company runs 50 stores and plans to open a further 50 by 2014.  There will also be a relocation to a larger site where operations will commence in February 2010.

Kuehne & Nagel opens a new logistics centre in Obergeorgswerder (South of Hamburg).  The centre offers 44,000 sqm of warehousing and handling space and 166 loading bays.

DHL Supply Chain wins a 5 year contract with Rupert Murdoch's News International.  The contract is for the distribution of 25 million national newspapers (The Sun, The Times, The News of the World and The Sunday Times) every week from 4 print plants through DHL Supply Chain's network to over 68 locations, 7 days per week, 364 days per year.  The operation will be overseen by DHL Supply Chain's control tower based in Edmonton, North London.

Geodis Wilson appoints Mathieu Renard Biron as its new Vice President for the Asia Pacific region.  Mathieu is responsible for developing the business in the region. 

Gist wins a contract with Eat (sandwich retailer).  Gist is to establish and operate an NDC at its Hemel Hempstead facility.  Eat operates its own central kitchen which distributes products overnight to its 100 shops throughout the UK.  The operation relies on the provision of a distribution system capable of providing a reliable chilled delivery service.  Pre-picked product is now received at the Hemel Hempstead site from Eat's central kitchen in Wembley and milk is delivered direct from a 3rd party supplier.  Gist is responsible for sorting cages into vehicle routes and for picking the milk to cages against delivery outlet orders.  Direct deliveries are made to Eat's outlets in the South East.  For the rest of the country, product is trunked to the national network with cross-docking facilities for onward delivery by local delivery vehicles.  Deliveries to retail outlets are undertaken at night using vehicles fitted with tail hoists to ensure availability of fresh product when stores open.

Dachser Food Logistics has appointed Alfred Miller as its new Managing Director as at 31st March 2010.

Fone Logistics has announced its has been sold to a newly formed business entity but will continue to operate under the same branding and conditions.  This was to secure its long-term future.
