March 201031st March 2010 Movianto wins a pharmaceuticals contract with Daiichi Sankyo Europe. Movianto will store and distribute Daiichi Sankyo's products in Austria, Spain and the UK. The storage will take place in Daiichi Sankyo's subsidiary warehouses from where wholesalers will be supplied. Movianto is already doing this in France. In France and the UK, Movianto will handle the storage and distribution as well as complete ordr-to-cash management. In Austria and Spain, Movianto will also be responsible for the distribution of Daiichi Sankyo's promotional materials. City Sprint has been appointed a same day courier for Ashtons Hospital Pharmacy based in Brighton following a series of urgent deliveries. Gist has extended its distribution contract with the 2 Sisters Food Group (fresh produce supplier). The 2 Sisters Food Group supplies multiple retailers from multiple locations across the UK and have appointed Gist as a transport provider for their orders out of a geographical location to a leading supermarket chain. 29th March 2010 Clipper Group has announced the re-livery of its fleet of vehicles. The 600 vehicles will shortly be in a mix of customer specific and Clipper liveries that reflect the new corporate visual identity. The 2 Clipper livery designs are Clipper's sail image with its 'logistics evolved' message and Clipper's hybrid animal creative which articulates its agility and ability proposition across rigid and curtain-sided trailers. Wincanton has won a 5 year, warehousing and distribution contract with Best Buy. C&D Southwest (part of Palletforce) has won a contract with Clipper (tea and coffee producer). C&D Southwest will make deliveries of up to 200 pallets per month to customers throughout the UK & Europe. Stobart has won an £18 million, 3 year warehousing and distribution contract with AG Barr. Stobart will consolidate deliveries at the central stockholding centre at Crick and carry out distribution to retailers in the UK. Stobart will move stock by rail from AG Barr's factory in Cumbernaul to the distribution centre in Crick. The operations will begin in May 2010. Geodis Calberson has won a 3 year contract with IMI International Engineering. Geodis Calberson will carry out palletised distribution for both IMI Cornelius and IMI Norgren with the UK & Europe. It covers the shipment of IMI products from its major UK sites in Sheffield, Lichfield and Loughborough. DHL Supply Chain has won a £30 million, 3 year distribution contract with Birds Eye. DHL Supply Chain will handle all frozen products for the European production plants to the NDC in Birmingham. 22nd March 2010 Geodis has acquired Ciblex in France. Ciblex is a groupage operator and specialist small parcel express deliverer. Gefco has won a contract with Kawasaki for the warehousing and distribution of motorbikes, jet skis, all-terrain 4-wheel vehicles and other power products including hedge trimmers, grass cutters and strimmers. Vehicles will be delivered to Gefco's site in Coventry and stored under bond. Then the products will be distributed to dealers using Gefco's shared-user 2-wheeler network. Alan Firmin (UK haulier) has won a 5 year, £6 million contract with Knauf. Alan Firmin will handle its distribution operation from its Sittingbourne plant in Kent. Gist has won a £3 million contract with VOW's South-West operation. Gist will exit VOW's Bristol site and transfer operations to two Gist's sites. The outbases at Exeter, Plymouth and Cardiff will be retained to support the two main operating centres. The contract to operate the South-West region will be aligned with the wider VOW/GIST contract which involves daily time sensitive delivery of office products from VOW's state-of-the-art NDC at Lutterworth to the national network of RDCs, radial distribution of VOW's products to customers across the Midlands and the provision of a national warehousing and delivery operation for business furniture. 17th March 2010 TDG has extended its contract with Givaudan Nederland for the management of its warehouse in Hilversum, The Netherlands. Kuehne & Nagel has won a contract with Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings in Spain for 5 years. Kuehne & Nagel will manage the 16,000sqm distribution centre in Zaragoza and will be responsible for warehouse operations of the full range of Akzo Nobel decorative paints. Atchison Topeka has won a 3 year contract with Cadbury to set up a dedicated nut handling facility based in Worcester. The facility will be used for de-canting nuts into intermediate bulk containers, which will feed directly onto the Cadbury production lines 7 days per week. Atchison Topeka will also control the waste management involving bailing and recyling of packaging. Kuehne & Nagel has won a 3 year contract with Vectura AS (supplier of logistics services for producers, agents and importers of wine and spirits in Norway). Kuehne & Nagel will manage the 8,000sqm facility at Trondheim, Norway and will select and manage the transport carriers used to undertake all deliveries. It is planned that Vectura will exit the facility in 2013. Bruno Mandrin has been appointed director of the Groupage & Express Division of Geodis Calberson. 11th March 2010 Geodis Calberson has extended its contract with DOW Agro Sciences for a further 3 years. Geodis manages all on-site logistics and global supply chain requirements with the majority of activity taking place in the European, Eurasia and Baltic markets. Specific activities include; warehousing, loading and unloading activities, import and export shipping office duties and arrangment of transport for orders by land, sea and air. It also oversees 12 million kilos of goods annually and around 10,000 pallets. Geodis also manages on-site logistics operations for the business in Italy and France as part of a pan european collaborative platform. Ceva Logistics has won a 3 year €6.5 million contract with Samsung Italy. The contract is for managing the supply chain for Samsung's activities in Italy. Ceva Logistics will run the entire operation, including handling customs clarance in the port of Genoa, storage in Ceva's warehouse in Pognamo, nr Bergamo and final distribution to end users in Italy. Ceva Logistics currently manages around 230,000 packages per year and also handles reverse logistics activities and value-added services such as re-packaging, re-labelling and market configuration of products when required. Wincanton has extended its contract with Chevron for a further 3 years worth £60 million. Wincanton continues to carry out operations from the company's network of YK terminals transporting over 9 billion litres of fuel over the lifetime agreement to Texaco branded petrol stations. Wincanton has extended its contract with Air Products for a further 3 years worth £52 million. Wincanton will continue to carry bulk liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid argon and hydrogen gas for the manufacturing industry and mediacl market. Wincanton currently operates 60 road tanker vehicles using 120 drivers working around the clock to deliver 80,000 tonnes of gas per month from 7 Air Products terminals in the UK making 100 deliveries per day. DHL Supply Chain has renewed its contract with BP worth £75 million. DHL Supply Chain manages UK warehousing and distribution of dry goods and chilled products for BP's convenience retail business. DHL Supply Chain manages the storage and delivery of 20 million cases of product to all 360 BP forecourts around the UK each year. Also, DHL Supply Chain carries out the inventory forecasting and management of BP retail's service call centre which supports round-the-clock inbound replenishment orders and outbound activities such as goods collected and pre-emptive ordering. Geodis has acquired Bertola Servizi Logistici to become a leading groupage, full-load, contract logistics, 4pl and freight forwarder in Italy. Geodis is doubling its storage capacity in Italy especially in Veneto. This will strengthen Geodis presence in its key sectors; FMCG, Textiles and Automotive. 5th March 2010 Ceva Logistics has published its results:
Ceva Logistics has identified 100 key global customers that are an area of specific focus. Each account has an executive sponsor which deals with the customer both locally and globally. These accounts account for 50% of the revenues in 2009. TDG has acquired a Hungarian transport business 'RRS Logistics' which will enable it to extend its full range of services in Central and Eastern Europe. Norbert Dentressangle has won a national warehousing and distribution contract with Black Sheep (brewery). Norbert Dentressangle is storing around 140,000 bottles of beer at its distribution centre in Buxton. The facility comprises 2 levels of which 2 are underground, the 450,000 sqft bonded facility stores beers, wines and spirits at relatively constant temperatures. Orders are pricked and trunked into Norbert Dentressangle's national shared-user network for onward distribution into retailers distribution networks. London City Bond has won a contract with PLB Group. London City Bond stores products at its 273,000 sqft warehouse in Barking and provides nationwide distribution to PLB's on and off trade customers. Picking, container destuffing, promotional repacking and reworking services are also carried out. 2nd March 2010 Wincanton is shaking-up its Britvic operation. It is proposing a restructure of the transport operations and a possible reduction of some of its transport team. No changes are proposed to the warehouse and support staff. Gist is acquiring G&S International. G&S International is a temperature controlled distribution company based in Scotland and has operations in the UK, Holland and Spain. The Potter group has extended its contract with Greencore. The contract is for the storage of 8,000 pallets and the provision of transport to and from its factory and to supermarket distribution centres. Citysprint has won a contract to deliver wedding list items for House of Fraser. Customers will be offered 2 hour delivery windows, 5 days per week and an am/pm service on Saturday enabling them to select a convenient time for delivery. Global Freight Solutions have won a contract with Snow & Rock to handle all of its distribution.
