RCS Logistics has won a contract with Pitch World (online retailer and TV shopping channel).  RCS Logistics will provide e-fulfillment services, including bonded warehousing, customer order picking, packing and despatch as well as online order tracking and asset returns.

Tesco is submitting plans for a 700,000 sqft distribution warehouse on a 58 acre site at Worton Grange, Whitley, Reading.

Boughey Distribution has signed a 3 year deal with CHEP.  CHEP will add 40,000 pallet flows to its existing business with Boughey, bringing the total number to more than 600,000 per year.

The Co-operative Group has opened a £25 million multi-temperature distribution centre in Newhouse, Lanarkshire which will serve 618 stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Seafield Logistics has acquired Distribution Investments Ltd (DIL).  DIL is a freight forwarding company based in Hythe, Kent.

Dachser has won a contract with Peter Green Chilled.  Dachser will handle shipments in the UK & Ireland.  Dachser offers customers full-coverage, daily deliveries.  Dachser's Herne branch has so far been functioning as a platform.  Groupage consignments from Dachser and its European partners are consoldated there on a daily basis and delivered to Peter Green in Shepton Mallet (South Bristol) the following day for onward distribution.  One day later, the consignments are delivered across England and Scotland, including the early time slots at the central Aldi warehouses.

Delamode has recently commenced operations at a new dedicated fashion warehouse and cross-docking facility in Essex.

Kuehne & Nagel is acquiring J. Van de Put (Amsterdam).  This company is a fresh cargo handling agent for perishable goods.

Wincanton has renewed its contract with the Ministry of Defence for a further 3 years.  Wincanton carries out the distribution of bulk aviation fuels to UK air bases and marine vessels.  As a new part of the contract, fuel is ordered directly from Wincanton and delivered to over 25 sites across the UK in training missions.  Wincanton delivers over 85 million litres of fuel per year.

Wincanton has released an interim management statement for the period from 1st April 2011.  The Group's trading performance is in line with expectations.  Its renewals include; B&Q and Procter & Gamble and new contract include; Forticrete and Jack Wills.  The Group's mainland European business is making good progress in developing its pipeline with potential new customers.  It is finding the Containers market challenging due to decreasing volumes and also the closure of Focus DIY has made an impact on the business.

Seafield Logistics has won a contract with Tommy Tucker.  Seafield will distribute confectionery products from Claylands Avenue, Worksop to major theme parks and holiday parks, in addition to the nationwide cinema chains which it has been delivering to for the past 12 months.

Hermes has opened a 100,000 sqft hub at Warrington South Distribution Park to replace an existing site in Bradford.  It has also opened a 45,000 sqft hub at Crawley, West Sussex and has expanded its site at Rotherham.

Tempe (Inditex company) which designs, manufactures and distributes footwear and accessories to all Inditex fashion retailers has opened a 150,000 sqft logistics hub in Elche, South East Spain.

Kuehne & Nagel Group is pursuing its global strategy, focussing on investment in growth markets and segments.  Therefore, Kuehne & Nagel is acquiring Grupo Eichenberg in Brazil.  This will enable Kuehne & Nagel to provide integrated door-to-door logistics solutions and to speed up expansion in Brazil.

DB Schenker and Goodman is building an 81,000 sqm logistics centre in Leipzig which is due to be completed between July and November 2011.  This warehouse will focus on the automotive sector.

Kerry Logistics has won a contract with Marks & Spencer.  Kerry Logistics will manage and operate both Mark & Spencer's NDC in mainland China and its RDC in Hong kong.  It will provide inbound and outbound supply chain and value-added services, including packing and un-packing, relabelling and steaming.  The 275,000 sqft Hong kong RDC is situated within Kerry Logistic's product customisation and consolidation centre in Tai Po.  The Tai Po facility supports the daily replenishment of all Marks & Spencer's retail stores in Hong kong, covering hanging and boxed garments as well as accessories, footwear and home products, while food merchandise is serviced from Kerry Logistic's cold store facility located in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.

Oakland Distribution is working with Muller Dairy to create and implement a new bespoke distribution scheme designed with the small wholesale client market in mind.  Initially the scheme will service 20 wholesale clients, covering all areas of the UK.

Gist has won a contract with Starbucks.  Gist will consolidate the 3 currently separate supply chain for ambient, chill and dairy products through their retail stores across the UK & Ireland.  Individual store orders will be picked and delivered to all 700+ Starbucks locations across the UK & Ireland using Gist's temperature-controlled distribution networks.

P&O Ferrymasters has renewed its contract with Trimodal Euroterminal, Coevorden (near Rotterdam) for its deal with Procter & Gamble Pet Foods for a further 1 year.  The Euroterminal and P&G's IAMS plant are next to each other in Coevorden.  Up to 5 shuttle trains per week take goods to Rotterdam for pan-European rail connections, as well as deep-sea and short-sea shipments.

Unipart Technology Logistics has won a repair contract with mobile phone provider Three.

Kuehne & Nagel has renewed its contract with British Airways for a further 3 years.  Kuehne & Nagel imports British Airways' range of inflight wines from Europe, Australia, South Africa and South America to the UK.  Kuehne & Nagel also manages seafreight exports of its cabin service supplies from the UK to a distribution centre in Illinois, Chicago and handles some domestic overland traffic within the UK.

Norbert Dentressangle has won 2 contracts with Coca-Cola Enterprises.  Norbert Dentressangle will manage warehousing and distribution of Coca-Cola's UK vending business and the distribution of consumer beverages.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 6 year contract with Thorntons.  Thorntons has undertaken a review of its operations and outsourced its warehousing and transport operation to DHL Supply Chain.  DHL Supply Chain will use its existing infrastructure for the contract.

DB Schenker has opened operations in Reykjavik, Iceland.  The focus of this operation is on Air and Seafreight.

Irish Global Logistics (IGL) has won a contract with Continental Tyre Group (CTG).  IGL is responsible for transporting CTG's products to customers across Ireland from Continental's UK distribution centre.

Geodis Calberson has renewed its contract with Lasko Beer.  Geodis Calberson transports bottled drinks into the UK.  Geodis Calberson collects products from Lasko, Slovenia, arranges inbound transport, customs clearance and storage at its depot in High Wycombe where it will pick orders and distribute the bottled drinks to wholesalers who will sell them into the pubs.

Schenker has won a 3 year contract with William Grant & Sons.  Schenker will provide domestic and international freight services for its products using air, ocean and land services.  The majority of shipments are destined for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in addition to a  number of major South American destinations.

Geodis Wilson has launched a new vertical business unit dedicated to serving the logistics needs of luxury hotels and resorts and their suppliers worldwide.  

Paul Smith (founder of Jigsaw Solutions) has launched Harlequin Logistics.  The new venture is the collaboration of 5 hauliers (R Swain & Sons, Prestons of Potto, John Raymond Transport, Jack Richards & Sons and Currie European Transport).  The company offers large scale ambient transport in the UK and is targetting shippers with a substantial domestic requirement.  Its clients will be guaranteed that 75% of volumes will be handled by the 5 hauliers.  These will be divided on a geographical split to reduce empty running.

Panalpina has set targets to outperform market growth in Air, Ocean and Logistics and acheive an EBITDA margin of 20%.  This will mainly be achieved through organic growth, but acquisitions remain a viable option.  Whilst air and sea freight remain the company's core business, they will be complemented by supply chain services and value added services in logistics.  Panalpina will increase its in-house logistics capabilities in the coming years, positioning logistics around value added services rather than running stand-alone warehouses, confirming an asset-light model.

Meachers Global Logistics has won a contract with Gurit UK.  Meachers Global Logistics will handle UK warehousing for its raw materials and finished goods and will also provide fulfillment solutions in Southampton.
