DHL Supply Chain has extended its contract with Petroplus for a further 5 years.  The contract is worth £30 million and will see DHL Supply Chain handle the order management, customer services and the movement of bitumen at elevated temperatures to quarries and asphalt manufacturing plants throughout the UK.

Kuehne & Nagel has won a contract with Fujifilm Poland.  All warehousing in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia will be merged into a 10,000 sqm facility in Chorzow.  Kuehne & Nagel will also be responsible for warehouse management, customs brokerage and value add services such as sticking, labelling and plate cutting.  A specific focus lies on high value goods and hazardous substances for which a dedicated cold room area of 300 sqm has been built for Fujifilm.

Philippe Gilbert has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chairman of Geodis Wilson and its Freight Board.  The freight management division is now under a single leadership.  Also, Kim Pederson is now the Chief Marketing Officer and a member of Geodis Wilson board.

Arvato Services Healthcare has won a contract with 5 Prime GmbH (Life sciences).  Arvato Services Healthcare will act as the global distributor of its products and will manage all of its processes from inbound transportation and warehouse management to customer deliveries.

TM Logistics has renewed its contract with Rexam Beverage Can Europe.  The £18 million contract adds 5 years to the existing 10 year deal.  TM Logistics is responsible for Rexam's can and packaging storage movements in the UK, including just-in-time deliveries from sites in Milton Keynes and Wakefield.

The Potter Group has renewed a contract with Cemex UK for 25 years.  The Potter Group handled 35,000 tonnes of aggregare for Cemex in 2009.  Product is shipped in by rail from the Peak Forest in Derbyshire.

KN Drinks Logistics has won a new 3 year contract with Concha Y Toro (wine producer and exporter).  KN Drinks Logistics has managed imports of wine from Chile and Argentina by seafreight on behalf of the company for 10 years.  Now Concha Y Toro will transfer all of its UK domestic warehousing and distribution to KN Drinks Logistics of which it will use the Hams Hall facility.  This facility will offer storage for around 1 million cases of wine to be delivered annually to both on and off trade customers.

Oakland Distribution has won a contract with Landmark Wholesale.  Oakland Distribution will provide a centrally located ambient and chilled consolidation service to Landmark's 32 industry wholesale members and their UK customer base. 

Bibby Distribution has won a contract with First Milk.  Bibby Distribution will provide a farm collection services for farmers co-operative First Milk in West Wales, as well as retaining a similiar contract in Scotland and North Cumbria.  Also, nationwide management of First Milk's secondary distribution which is scheduled to start in Summer 2010.  Bibby Distribution will be repsonsible for collecting around 3.5 million litres of milk from farmers every day, delivering it both directly to First Milk creameries as well as First Milk customers under the national secondary deal.  On the national secondary operation Bibby Distribution will work alongside Lloyd Fraser who will provide the farm collection service for First Milk in Central England and East Wales.

Hermes extends its contract with Next for a further 8 years.  Consignments are collected from Next's distribution centre and despatched overnight to Hermes regional depot network.  Orders are then distributed to over 7,500 lifestyle couriers for delivery to households across the UK.

City Link has won a £300,000 per year contract with Fuel Parts UK (vehicle component supplier).  City link will oversee all distribution from its Kidderminster depot.

NYK Logistics has won a global distribution contract with Dobbies.  NYK Logistics handles its end-to-end supply chain from the Far East to UK stores.  This distribution contract supports the garden centre's seasonal operation.  Also it provides home delivery services, supporting its ecommerce business.

Gist has won a contract with Manor Fresh.  Gist will collect around 2.75 million cases of fresh vegetables per year from UK sites in Lincolnshire, Chipping Campden, Inverness and Arbroath.

PD Logistics has won a contract with Halewood International to handle all imports of Tsingtao beer from China.  Containers will be received into the port of Felixstowe and unloaded into PD Logistics 500,000 sqft onsite warehouse facility for bonded storage prior to onward despatch .

Ceva Logistics has won a 3 year contract with Multiyork.  The contract is a white glove 2-man home delivery and Ceva Logistics is responsible for the daily transfer of manufactured items from Multiyork's factory at Thetford to a dedicated 2,990 sqm warehouse at Mendlesham, suffolk.  It then contacts customers to arrange a convenient delivery date using its customer call centre in Manchester.

DHL Supply Chain has won a £38 million, 5 year contract with Spicers.  DHL Supply Chain will manage the distribution of office products across Spicer's supply chain network from regional distribution centres located in Greenwich, Chessington, Bristol, Birmingham, Heywood and Glasgow to dealers and customers.

Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Sunnflair (camping specialist).  Norbert Dentressangle will make up to 15 collections per day from Sunnflair's premises in Chelmsford and Ipswich.  Next day deliveries are then made to the company's 2,800 retail stockists across the country. 

TDG has promoted Martin Palmer to the position of Shared-user Business Unit Director responsible for TDG's 30 shared-user sites across the UK from Plymouth to Aberdeen. 

Smartway logistics has been appointed by Kimberly-Clark Europe for transport management services.  Smartway logistics will manage over 70,000 european intercompany  full truckload shipments, cross border full truckload customer deliveries and domestic customer deliveries in France  and Poland.  Smartway logistics is also responsible for selecting and managing hauliers and providing logistics administration support.

Ceva Logistics has appointed Frank Erhardt as Director of Contract Logistics for Central Europe.  Frank will oversee the contract logistics business for the region from his base in Frankfurt and has been tasked with driving operational excellence across all operations.

NFT Distribution has won a 3 year contract with NOM Dairy for the distribution of its yoghurt based products (around 50 skus) to major retailers and foodservice wholesalers in the UK.

Nightfreight has won a 3 year contract with JD Williams.  Nightfreight will provide a 2-man home delivery service for direct supplier orders.  Nightfreight will handle the collection and delivery of a range of items including white goods, home electronics, furniture and upholstery.

Ceva Logistics has won a 3 year contract with Mazda for the management of the distribution of spare parts throughout Italy.  Ceva Logistics will collect spare parts from Mazda's warehouse in Klagenfurt, Austria on a daily basis and then transport them to Ceva's centre at Bentivoglio, near Bologna.  Around 120,000 packages will be sorted and distributed to 140 Mazda services (car dealers and authorised repairers) across Italy every year.  Vital to the efficiency of the operation is Ceva's ablity to deliver spare parts by midday the day after collection in most regions of Italy.  Ceva will also manage the handling and processing of returns, including collecting parts from dealers and shipping them to the company's warehouse in Austria.

Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Netto to operate a centralised returns handling centre for non-food products from within Norbert Dentressangle's shared-user warehouse in Birmingham.  Norbert Dentressangle will collect returned products from all stores by Netto's delivery vehicles and consolidated at RDCs for bulk transportation to the returns handling centre.  Following inspection of the products, Norbert Dentressangle's unique BACTRAC system captures the details of returned items and automatically identifies the most appropriate disposition route based on a set of user defined questions, dependant upon the value and condition of the product; return to vendor, resale through secondary markets, scappage of refurbishment by Norbert Dentressangle.

Lloyd Fraser has renewed its 2 year contract with First Milk.  It is a renewal of an existing operation across Central England but also it will now take over responsibility for both South East Wales and Oxfordshire milk fields acquiring depots at New Inn and Thame.

DSV Road has won a 2 year contract with Marks & Spencer to distribute Beers, Wines & Spirits from M&S suppliers to distribution centres in Daventry.

Heinz has appointed Bob Ostryniec to the position of Chief Supply Chain officer.  Bob will drive worldwide initiatives to leverage the company's global scale, reduce costs, improve gross margins and enhance productivity.  Also, he will continue to lead the global supply chain task force and strategic through leadership on global supply chain issues and opportunities, partnering with regional supply chain leaders to build and leverage global capability to achieve competitive advantage, as well as building common, best in class supply chain processes, systems, metrics and tools.  Also, Heinz has appointed Christopher Stockwell as Chief Procurement Officer for Heinz globally.

Culina Logistics has secured the ISO 9001:2000 accreditation across all 9 of its ambient and chilled distribution centres that covers the UK. 

Geodis & Cremonini has been awarded a 6 year, €30 million contract by the French State Railway SNCF to handle catering logistics for its high speed TGV train services from March 2010.  The contract will be operated by a joint venture company 'Avirail' and includes logistics services for all national TGV on-board catering services (except TGV-East route) as well as the Lyria service linking Paris and Geneva.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has won a contract with Jaguar Land Rover to ship its vehicles from the UK to North America, Australia and New Zealand.  WWL will ship 45,000 vehicles in 2010 from Southampton to ports in Baltimore, Brunswick, Port Hueneme in the USA; Halifax in Canada and Fremantle, Melbourne and Port Kembla in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand.  The company will also be providing terminal services for receiving all Jaguar and Land Rover models in Southampton.  Also, it will ship Land Rover Freelanders from Liverpool to Baltimore, USA.  Pre-delivery inspection work will be carried out by WWL at its vehicle processing centre in Brunswick and Port Hueneme for models destined for the east and west coasts of the USA.

Kuehne & Nagel has founded a wholly owned subsidiary in Belarus, based in the capital of Minsk.  This will enable Kuehne & Nagel to accelerate their strategic expansion into eastern Europe.

DPD and Interlink have launched a system for giving customers a 1 hour window for their home deliveries.  Home shoppers who buy from retailers shipping with DPD or Interlink can receive a free SMS or email giving them a precise 1 hour window in which the driver will arrive.  If the recipient of the SMS knows that they won't be in to sign the package, they can text back and arrange for the company to deliver on a more convenient date from a choice of 3 days.
