Kuehne & Nagel has appointed Yngve Ruud as its Regional Manager for North West Europe succeeding Tim Scharwath who will become a member of the Management Board of Kuehne & Nagel International AG from 1st September 2011.

Ceva Logistics has appointed Mate Szombathelyi as its new Country Manager for Hungary.  Mate will be responsible for growing the business and operational capability across both Freight Management and Contract Logistics.

Ceva Logistics has won a 3 year, €7.9 million contract with Suzuki.  Ceva will manage the nationwide distribution of aftermarket vehicle and marine parts through Ceva's specialist automotive network.

P&O Ferrymasters has won a £1 million contract with Novelis.  P&O Ferrymasters will transport goods from its factories in Gottingen, Nachterstedt and Neuss in Germany into Belgium, France and the UK & Ireland.  

Yusen Logistics has won a contract with Bristol Myers Squibb.  The contract is a pan-European distribution contract for over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Initial.  Norbert Dentressangle will provide storage, inventory management and order picking services. 

DHL Supply Chain has won a 3 year £40 million contract with Telefonica.  DHL Supply Chain will provide enhanced services covering the full lifecycle of products to Telefonica's retail stores, distributors, business and consumer users.  It will also provide product and package customisation, reverse logistics and customer services.

Ceva Logistics has published its results for Q2 2011 and H1 2011:

  • Revenues: €1,713 million, down 1.8% on Q2 2010
  • Revenues: €3,399 million, up 5.2% on H1 2010
  • EBITDA: €81 million, up 24.6% on Q2 2010
  • EBITDA: €152 million, up 29.9% on H1 2010

The Group achieved over €1 billion of new contract wins in the first 6 months of 2011.  It also increased its Freight Management business by 17% year-on-year with its global customers and has experienced growth in its Contract Logistics business in all regions by around 9% year-on-year.

Wincanton has signed a conditional agreement for the dispoal of its remaining operations in mainland Europe to Rhenus AG & Co. KG which is subject to approval.  The disposal operations comprise Wincanton's German Intermodal and Contract Logistics activities which operates from 38 locations and Wincanton's business in France, which provide Contract Logistics and Transport services and operate from 30 locations.

DHL Supply Chain has renewed its contract with Perkins for another 2 years.  DHL Supply Chain collects parts from Perkins' UK suppliers and delivers into UK factories.

OOCL Logistics has extended its contract with Specialized for a further 5 years.  OOCL Logistics provides international supply chain management from origin factories in Asia as well as UK warehousing services.

City Link has won a contract with Laithwaites.  City Link will deliver around 25% of the volume of wine from the Gloucester distribution centre using the 48 hour service with next day delivery being offered to customers as an option.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 1 year contract with Terry De Havilland which will also use the DHL Express and Freight divisions. DHL will collect products from Spain and deliver it directly around the world to consumers purchasing online.  It will also distribute to selected retail outlets or to DHL Supply Chain's facility in Barking, London for onward distribution within the UK.

Norbert Dentressangle has formed a partnership with asset recovery specialist Bakers Basco.  Norbert Dentressangle can now offer customers a recovery service to help minimise the loss of RTP including plastic trays and buckets, dollies and roll cages.

DHL Supply Chain has won a contract with JCB.  DHL Supply Chain will take on a 142,000 sqft warehouse at Fradley Park (nr Lichfield) to be used as a parts distribution centre.

Bibby Distribution has acquired Topeka Aitchison.  Topeka Aitchision provides logistics services to the food ingredients network and offers a range of warehousing, palletised transport and bulk road tanker services.

Wincanton has invested £4.2 million, adding 27 new vehicles to its dedicated construction fleet following a recent 27% growth in volumes from customers.  Wincanton operates the UK's largest shared-user construction materials fleet with around 200 vehicles.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 5 year, £85 million contract with House of Fraser.  DHL Supply Chain will provide an end-to-end supply chain management service for its stores from the refurbished 22,760 sqm warehouse facility in Wellingborough (Northamptonshire).  The existing Milton Keynes site will be used to fulfill House of Fraser's online offering.

Gregory Distribution has acquired Dylon Thomas International.  Dylon Thomas International is a chilled transport company based in West Wales.

Nightline has won a contract with Aurora Fashions.  Nightline will handle all deliveries into Ireland.

Bidvest Logistics has won a 5 year, multi-million pound food distribution contract with the Tragus Group (operator of 300 restaurants, including Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia and Strada).  

Deutsche Post DHL has reported its financial results for Q2 2011:

  • Group: Turnover: Up 0.3% to €12.8 billion
  • Mail Division: Turnover: Up 8% to €667 million.  EBIT: €183 million
  • Express Division: Turnover: Up 2.9% to €3 billion
  • Global Forwarding, Freight Division: Up 3.6% to €3.7 billion.  EBIT: Up 13.1% to €112 million.  Solid growth in air and sea freight as well as double digit growth in the european overland transport business.
  • Supply Chain Division: Turnover: Down 3.4% to €3.2 billion.  Operating Earnings: Up from €53 million (Q2 2010) to €115 million (Q2 2011).  This is due to the sale of a US subsidiary and negative exchange rate effects.  New and existing customer contracts brought in €220 million in Q2 2011.

Norbert Dentressangle has renewed its contract with Asda for a further 5 years for the management of 8 Asda Service Centres (ASC). It is responsible for all activities in the ASCs including equipment wshing, packaging, waste bailing and equipment sortation.

DSV Solutions has won a 5 year contract with Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition (division of Danone) for the operation of its global distribution hub.  This 30,000 sqm Nutricia dedicated medical warehouse facility will replace the current country-based warehouses.

Import Services has been named 'Best Retail Supply Chain Company' by the Institute of Transport Management in its 2011 'Roll of Honour'.  ITM awards are presented to innovative companies responsible for developing transport, with Import Services being recognised for its port-centric contribution to retail supply chain logistics in the UK.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 3 year components and spare parts distribution deal that will see it make 3 daily deliveries to dealerships in the North of England and Scotland  on top of overnight deliveries, as DHL Supply Chain assists BMW with the management of Deal Metro DC (DMDC) across Europe.  DHL Supply Chain will provide warehousing services at its shared-user facility in Bellshill, Scotland.

Hermes has won a 2 year extension for home delivery with Scotts & Company (catalogue retailer).  Hermes collects orders from Scotts fulfillment centre in Swindon or direct from 300 suppliers.  

Kerry Logistics has acquired 2 freight forwarding companies in the UK.  Regency Forwarding Limited specialises in Airfreight, Seafreight and international trailer movements for both imports and exports.  It focuses on imports from the USA and Asia and exports to international destinations.  Bergen Freight Forwarding Limited specialises in seafreight imports from India and the Far East.
