Nobert Dentressangle has won a contract with Lantmannen Unibake UK (Swedish frozen bread product supplier).  Norbert Dentressangle will provide a daily collection service from the manufacturing site in Milton Keynes through its shared-user temperature controlled network and supplying 15,000 pallet spaces in its cold store in Easton, Lincolnshire and also additional storage at Bedworth, Warwickshire.

Home Delivery Network has acquired G&M Distribution.  G&M Distribution was already a sub-contractor to Home Delivery Network for many years and carries out home deliveries for Scotland.

Kuehne & Nagel has opened a new facility in Sochi, Russia.  This site will be directly involved in providing logistics and transport services to official contractors of the Olympic Winter Games 2014.

PD Ports has won a contract with Taylors of Harrogate.  PD Ports will handle +1,000 containers per year of imported tea and coffee.  The product will be unloaded from containers at Teesport and stored in a 40,000 sqft warehouse at Teesport owned by PD Ports.  Previously, Taylors of Harrogate used the southern ports and then distributed it to Harrogate.

ByBox has appointed Gordon Owens as its new Head of Sales.  Gordon will be resonsible for setting up a new sales structure, yearly targets and identifying new markets.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) has selected ByBox to help them get parts from its Central European Distribution Centre in Antwerp, Belgium to its 290 UK field engineers by 8am, 7 days a week.  Field engineers can nominate the most convenient box location and have the flexibility to change designated box locations as they change territories.

Bacardi-Martini has appointed MDA (POS fulfillment provider) to handle POS materials, promotional merchandise and other advertising materials.  Some 160,000 multi product POS kits and 16,000 additional daily orders per year are processed and delivered to around 60,000 bars and pubs and 100 field staff throughout the UK.  Also, MDA will manage and operate a complex set of services including the provision of a website to allow field support staff to place on-line orders, central allocation of stock to support national campaigns, kit assembly, delivery against agreed deadlines and recording of stock levels and expenditure by some 15 individual brands.

iForce has implemented its efulfillment and multi-channel returns service for Sainsbury's new non-food website.  It combines online fulfillment, online returns and retail returns processing for Sainsbury's non-food goods at a 250,000 sqft depot in Corby, Northamptonshire.

Norbert Dentressangle extends its contract with Rettig ICC for a further 3 years, worth £10 million.  Norbert Dentressangle provides transport from Rettig's UK distribution centre at Birtley, County Durham, dispatching 2.4 million radiators and heating controls per year to 1,200 delivery points across the UK.  Norbert Dentressangle provides dedicated and shared-user network services via a fleet of vehicles based at Birtley that make daytime deliveries to Scotland and the North of England.  During the night, the fleet trunks Rettig products into Norbert Dentressangle's network which makes deliveries to merchants across Southern England the next day.

Ceva logistics has won a 5 year £2 million per year contract with EDF Energy Networks.  The contract is for the provision of cable management and distribution services and a 24/7 emergency call out service for urgent requirements.  The operation involves receipt of cable drums at a secure location in Childerditch, Essex, managing all 3rd party contractual requirements including the supply of full cable drums, the cutting of cable to smaller coils and capping, tapping and supplying of issued lengths.  Also, redrumming required lengths to smaller drums using automated cable cutting machines.

Eddie Stobart and DB Schenker Rail (UK) have announced a new temperature controlled intermodal service from Valencia to the UK via the Channel Tunnel.

DHL Supply Chain wins a multi-year contract with JW Ostendorf group of companies.  The contract is to operate its Coesfeld distribution centre and to provide distribution to DIY stores and specialty retailers in over 20 European countries with paints and lacquer products from the manufacturer based in North-West Germany.  The plan is to expand the DC into a multi-user facility for a variety of manufacturers.

Norbert Dentressangle has opened a new distribution centre in Hounslow, West London.  The 50,000 sqft facility provides a direct connection into companies UK and international network, with capacity for future expansion.  The DC is operating on a 24 hour, 5 day week and runs a mixed fleet of delivery vehicles.

Wales & West Utilities (WWU) has commenced their outsourced logistics contract tender process.  WWU has apponted Gideon Hillman Consulting to develop the scope of the outsourced logistics requirements and develop an evaluation process to ensure that the best logistics partner solution is available and offered to WWU through the competitive tender process.

London City Bond has won a £6 million contract with wine merchants Boutinot.  The contract is for the storage of 200,000 cases of wine at London City Bond's Barking warehouse as well as picking and delivery to 800 on-trade and off-trade customers across the UK.

Wincanton has opened an inland container hub at Greenham Common, Berkshire.  The site will handle import cargo routed through the port of Southampton.  The 1.6ha site can store 1,200 containers and has room for expansion to a storage capacity of 2,500 boxes.

Tradeteam appoints Gavin Murdoch as its new Managing Director.  Gavin's responsibilities will include overseeing Tradeteam operations across its nationwide network of 30 sites, 600 fleet of vehicles and 2,000 employees.  Gavin was previously the Vice President of Consumer, Retail and Healthcare of DHL Supply Chain in Japan and has been in the industry for the past 17 years.  Gavin replaces Simon Stacey who has been promoted to Managing Director of DHL Consumer division.

Wincanton extends its contract with The Great Dorset Steam Fair for a further 3 years.  Wincanton provides water for the event, used for drinking, hygiene, campsite welfare, back-up fire protection, catering and steam engines.

TDG announces further expansion into Central and Eastern Europe to service new and existing customers.

Kuehne & Nagel has been awarded a 3 year contract with LSG Sky Chefs to manage Malpensa airport related supply chain activities.  Kuehne & Nagel will manage the inbound services to LSG Sky Chefs customer service centre at Milan Malpensa, including the multi temperature warehouse in the airport area.  Also, storage, handling, order preparation and delivery to LSG Sky Chefs catering operation area which serves over 25 airlines taking off from Malpensa. 

Norbert Dentressangle reports its results for the 1st half of 2009:

  • Transport Revenue: €743 million - Down 19.7% on the same period last year;
  • Logistics Revenue: €605 million - Down 10.6% on the same period last year;
  • Group Total: €1,347 million - Down 15.8% on the same period last year.
