27th April 2011 Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Hayter. Norbert Dentressangle will provide national distribution to retailers across the UK via its shared-user pallet network. Gefco UK has launched a new daily service from the UK to 15 countries across Europe. DHL Supply Chain has won a 5 year extension to its contract with Brighthouse. DHL Supply Chain will distribute TVs, audio equipment, domestic appliances, furniture and technical products to the retailer's network of 8 customer service centres throughout the UK. DB Schenker has won a 10 year extension to its contract with Boeing. DB Schenker manages the distribution of parts for all Boeing aircraft types and sizes. Clipper Logistics has won a 4 year contract with Whistles. Clipper will manage the receipt and distribution of women's clothing and accessories for all its stores in the UK & Ireland from its distribution centre in Milton Keynes. Clipper will also fulfill and despatch all wholesale orders and manage the retailer's on-line clothing requirements. Raben Ukraine has won a 3 year contract with Electrolux. Raben provides services in 8 Ukrainian cities (Kgiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhge and Khmelnitsky) in order to service the entire country. Raben fulfills a range of warehouse services at its 45,000 sqm distribution centre in Brovary, Kyivrogian, including customs clearance and distribution of all Electrolux group products throughout the country. Wincanton has won a 3 year extension to its contract with Comet. Wincanton is the sole provider of transport and warehousing in the UK. 19th April 2011 TDG has won the extension to its contract with Argos' distribution centre in Mossend (Scotland). TDG will also cross-dock Homebase kitchens and bathrooms and Argos Direct home delivery products at the logistics hub which is situated between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Group has maintained growth in Q1 2011 and has gained market share in all business units. Kelloggs has appointed Steven Sterling as its new Senior Vice President Global Supply Chain. Steven joins from the Pepsico company. DHL Supply Chain has won a contract with Dunlop UK which will commence Q3 2011. The contract involves warehousing and distribution from the Tyrefort facility in Erdington, Birmingham. Bibby Distribution has appointed John Flinn as its new Fleet & Procurement Director. John joins from Yodel and he will focus on maximising vehicle availability and utilisation, reduce operational fleet costs and manage 'cradle to grave' vehicle assets. DHL Supply Chain has won a contract with Burton's Foods. Burton's Foods is restructuring and therefore DHL Supply Chain has entered a consultation period with employees based at Acornfield and Chorleywood distribution centres to move to a new 360,000 sqft DHL hub in G. Park Liverpool. Carlsberg has appointed Peter Ernsting as its new Senior Vice President of Supply Chain. Peter was previously the Chairman of Unilever Supply Chain Company. Mike Branigan (CEO) of TDG has left the business as a result of the takeover of the business by Norbert Dentressangle. Yusen Logistics has officially launched. The new company combines NYK Logistics UK and Yusen Air & Sea. 12th April 2011 Culina Logistics has appointed David Sowerbutts as its new Group Operations Director for the Ambient product range. ASCO has won a 5 year, £21.5 million contract with Perenco UK. The contract covers logistics, transport, fuel and port services for Perenco's Southern North Sea operations in Great Yarmouth and its Northern Nort Sea ports in Aberdeen and Peterhead. Fiege has won a contract with Felina GmbH (underwear producer). The contract is for handling the entire product range worldwide starting mid-2011. 5,000 sqm of space is to be dedicated to Felina at Fiege's volume distribution centre in Worms. Fiege will also carry out value added services such as repackaging, labelling, quality control and customs clearance. Irish Global Logistics (IGL) has won a contract with Bridgestone Ireland. The contract is for shared-user distribution with other automotive suppliers. IGL handles the distribution of products to all 32 counties of Ireland from hubs in Dublin and Belfast as well as via IGL's 12 satellite depots across the country. IGL also provides Bridgestone Ireland with European delivery services from Dublin and also operates vehicles on contract distribution from Bridgestone Ireland. Gefco UK is going to double its Commercial team to help achieve its growth targets. DHL Freight has launched operations in the new logistics centre in Kalinovka (nr Kiev). This serves as the main gateway for DHL's Freight network in Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia).
8th April 2011 Kuehne & Nagel has opened a new aviation logistics hub in Montair-de-Bretagne (Western France). From this facility, Kuehne & Nagel will handle the entire production logistics of Airbus' manufacturing plants at Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. Palletways has appointed Martyn Young to the position of Managing Director of its UK member network. Yodel has won a contract with Hughes Electrical. Yodel will handle 125,000 home deliveries per year via its 2-man operation and it will also provide assembly and connection services. Gefco is buying a 70% stake in Gruppo Mercurio (Italian vehicle transport and distribution company). Gruppo Mercurio wants to accelerate the development of inbound and outbound automotive logistics and also widen its client portfolio and extend its international footprint. Ceva Logistics has appointed 2 new Vice Presidents for the UK & Ireland. Ian Robb is to be the Vice President for Industrial and Technology and Simon Hobbs is to be the Vice President for Automotive. Fullers Logistics has become a shareholder member of the Palletforce network. Waitrose has unveiled plans to open a 360,000 sqft RDC in Chorley, Lancashire in order to support its expansion plans in the north of England. |
