Dachser has acquired Leach Distribution.

Tradeteam has won a 5 year contract with C&C Group.  Tradeteam will handle distribution in Northern Ireland and it will amalgamate C&C's products into 1 central distribution platform to increase customer service.

Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Hell Energy drinks.  The contract is for warehousing  and distribution to support the launch of its products into the UK market.  Norbert Dentressangle will be responsible for intake, storage, inventory management, picking and distribution of up to 4 different Hell Energy product lines.  It is providing 8,000 sqft of space in its shared-user facility in Milton Keynes.

iForce has won a 5 year contract with Digital Village (music equipment retailer).  iForce will replenish 8 stores around the country, providing fulfillment for online orders and for orders placed by schools and educational authorities.  The operation will be based at the Milton Park fulfillment centre, near Oxford.

Wincanton has won a 5 year, £27 million contract with Agusta Westland to manage the production stores and logistics requirements of its major operations in Yeovil.  Agusta Westland's production stores distributes helicopter components to clients around the globe, handling an inventory of over 40,000 parts that range from washers and bolts to rotor blades.

Wincanton has won a 5 year contract with BAE Systems.  Wincanton will provide supply chain support for its global combat system vehicles.  It will handle components for 4 of BAE's military vehicles including the Challenger 2 main battle tank, Panther light armoured vehicle, Bulldog FV430 armoured fighting vehicle and the AS90 self-propelled gun platform.  From 1st June 2010, all components from air filters to gearboxes, including new replacement parts and repaired items will be processed, securely packaged and despatched directly to the customer from a centralised logistics supply centre based in the Midlands.

Waterstones has appointed Tim Orwid as its new Supply Chain Director from the 10th May 2010.

UK Mail has launched a retail logistics division to tap into new markets and compliment existing services.  The firm has begun trials to operate a stock-replacement service for several retailers, including Fashion and Jewellery stores.  It will deliver stock and collect any returns.

APL Logistics has appointed David Frentzel as its new Vice President Contract Logistics.  David will be responsible for warehousing, deconsolidation and distribution in Americas, Asia, Europe and new business development.  David comes from DHL Supply Chain and has a strong background in Asia and the US.

Lloyd Fraser has achieved Group registration to ISO 9001:2008 international quality standard.  This completes Lloyd Fraser's goal of attaining registration across all sites to the integrated management systems of ISO9001, ISO14001 and the OHSAS18001.

Ceva Logistics has won 3 new contracts with Procter & Gamble Italy for its home care products division.  Ceva Logistics will continue to process finished products and co-packing activities for the customer at the Pomezia warehouse (nr Rome).  2 new contracts gives Ceva Logistics the responsibility for processing the home care products in 2 other Procter & Gamble warehouses Campochiaro (Campobasso) and Gattatico (Reggio Emilia).

Wincanton has promoted Gordon Scott to the position of Managing Director Retail and Chris Kingshott to the position of Managing Director Manufacturing.

City Sprint has won a 2 year extension with Serco.  City Sprint is carrying out international and UK overnight services for the company.

DB Schenker is expanding its european land transport services, particularly in South East Europe, with additional regular scheduled services, new facilities and technologies.

Wincanton is relocating its food service operations from Dunstable to Luton.  The new distribution centre is a 220,000 sqft based in Hoddesdon and will operate in Summer 2010.

Multipart has extended its parts distribution contract with truck manufacturer Dennis Eagle for another 7 years.

Multipart is the exclusive distributor for Optare's aftermarket parts.  It is operated from Multipart's 250,000 sqft facility in Chorley, Lancashire.  Multipart provides warehousing, distribution, inventory management, demand forecasting, production management, sales order processing and order fuflillment.

Multipart has won a £6 million parts warehousing and distribution contract with LDV Maxus vans for 5 years.  The contract is with China Ventures Ltd (owner).  The parts include panels and closures alsong with major units and a large number of items unique to the Maxus model.  The operation is based at the 250,000 sqft facility in Chorley, Lancashire.

Tradeteam has won a 3year primary distribution contract with AB InBev UK.  Tradeteam will be responsible for delivering packaged kegs, bottles and cases of brands including Beck's, Budweiser and Stella Artois from the company's breweries in Mgor, South Wales and Samlesbury, Lancashire to distribution centres and customers throughout the UK.  Products will be distributed by Tradeteam's 44 tonne vehicles, along with a selection of 3rd party haulage partners and supported by DHL's fleet.

Global Seafreight

This business experienced a turnaround in Q1 of 2010.  Kuehne & Nagel increased container volumes by 17%, gaining market share in many trade lanes.  The highest growth was recorded in the export business to China and on all export routes from Asia.

Global Airfreight

This reports a 31% increase in tonnage.  Q1 2009 was marked by a double-digit slump in tonnage, the market saw a double-digit increase in the first 3 months in 2010.

Road & Rail Logistics

There was an increase of 3.7% in net invoiced turnover.  The operating result more than doubled, and EBITDA margins reached 2.2% (previous year was 1%).

Contract Logistics

The turnover was stable during Q1 2010, although the North America results were negatively influenced by insufficient warehouse space utilisation and start up costs for new business.

Great Bear Distribution has appointed Mark Roberts has Business Development Director.  Mark will oversee the company's continued expansion and will contribute to its strategy through successful long term customer relationships.

Edge Worldwide Logistics is bringing in more chilled and frozen products from China and the Far East to the UK.  It has already won 11 new customers this year and is now importing a range of products from South America countries including Brazil, Columbia and Chile.

Norbert Dentressangle has renewed its contract with SCA Hygiene Products UK.  The contract is for the distribution of the 'Tork' brand for the next 3 years.

Geodis and Presstalis have signed a €10 million, 6 year contract to develop a 19,000 sqm multimodal facility with rail links in the port of Bonneuil-Sur-Marne, South-East of Paris.  The facility will open in March 2011.

Wincanton has won a sole transport contract with B&Q in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.  The contract will run for 12 months and will see Wincanton move products to B&Q's 9 stores in Northern Ireland and its 9 stores in the Republic of Ireland on seperate transport operations.

DHL Supply Chain has won a contract with Staples.  DHL Supply Chain will manage 32,000 TEUs per year at its bonded export distribution centre business and origin management services exporting out of China.  DHL Supply Chain will also provide 3rd party logistics services including origin pre-distribution, inventory management, consolidation, packaging and labelling.

London City Bond has extended its contract with Laurent-Perrier.  London City Bond provides bonded warehousing from a facility in Tilbury Docks and nationwide distribution.  London City Bond handles 300 product lines for Laurent-Perrier which are imported from France to Tilbury Docks.

Le Saint Logistics has won a contract with Life Fitness.  Le Saint Logistics will manage Life Fitness's parts business on a global scale from warehouse to fulfillment to transportation.  Le Saint Logistics will deliver parts to repair professionals who service fitness facilities as well as repair professionals who work directly for fitness facilities and retailers that sell Life Fitness equipment.  Le Saint Logistics handles over 8,000 SKUs of Life Fitness parts in a single facility with global capability.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 5 year contract with Volkswagen.  The contract is for in-plant logistics at its assembly plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.  800 DHL Supply Chain employees will manage in-plant logistics for 50% of the production materials.  This involves engines, gearboxes and windscreens for the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg.  The services provided include; inbound receiving, put away and storage, picking and kitting, sequencing and line-side deliveries directly to VW production lines.

DHL Supply Chain has won a 4 year, £40 million contract with Network Rail to provide a road transport planning centre.  The centre will manage day-to-day road haulage requirements for materials and supplies that cannot be moved by rail.  DHL Supply Chain will manage the movement of heavy infrastructure materials and non-heavy materials including the demand for maintenance spares and inbound freight from suppliers.  Also, it will handle the demand for road freight from major programmes and ad hoc haulage services required by infrastructure maintenance and infrastructure investment teams.

Schenker Italia S.p.A has expanded its capacity in the Greater Milan area through the establishment of a new land transport gateway in Peschiera Borromeo.  The new land transport hub has 11,000 sqm of warehouse space and is equipped with hydraulic ramps on all 53 loading docks.  The gateway is to handle around 22,000 shipments per month including daily and weekly connections to and from the major industrial centres across Europe as well as daily shuttles to branch offices in Italy.

Reed Boardall has won a  distribution contract with Thistle Seafoods.

Gefco has announced its results for 2009:

  • Turnover = €2,888 million, down 18.3% on 2008
  • Operating Income = €102 million
  • The Group maintained its profitability level
  • The Group said that in 2010 it will start up activity in 2 new countries; Kazakhstan and Bulgaria
