27th January 2012 P&O Ferrymasters has renewed its contract with Tate & Lyle for a further 3 years. P&O Ferrymasters provides around 1,800 FTL and LTL shipments a year from The Nertherlands and Germany to a variety of destinations throughout Europe. Sainsburys has won permission for a 680,000 sqft distribution centre in Basingstoke which will include 550,000 sqft of chilled and ambient storage. Advanced Supply Chain has won a 3 year contract with GO Outddors. The contract is for managing its fulfillment warehouse from the Corby site and UK distribution to retail stores. The UK government is planning to charge foreign lorries of 12 tonnes and above £10 per day to use any road in the UK. This may be implemented in 2015. Ceva Logistics has appointed Marco Galbusera as its new Managing Director for Iberia. Marco will be responsible for managing Ceva's strategy, operations and business growth in the Iberian market. Import Services has won a contract with Clementoni. Import Services will provide port-centric storage, high volume order processing, pick, pack and distribution to Clementoni's customers, retailers and independents. Gefco has won a contract with Chevrolet. Gefco will handle around 5,500 vehicles per year providing finished vehicle logistics and onward distribution from the facility at Royal Portbury Docks. Chevrolet already uses Gefco to provide finished vehicle distribution across Russia and Northern Portugal as well as distribution from Antwerp into France. The Co-operative Group has appointed Mark Hale as its new Head of Supply Chain. Motor Factor Andrew Page is to open a 100,000 sqft new national distribution centre in Derbyshore to support its expansion plans. 24th January 2012 Norbert Dentressangle has renewed its warehousing and distribution contract with Daikin UK for a further 3 years. Norbert Dentressangle was originally appointed by Daikin UK in 2005. Norbert Dentressangle receives containerised products from Daikin's manufacturing facilities in Belgium, Czech Republic and the Far East and is responsible for unloading and palletisation, storage, picking and distribution of products to customers throughout the UK & Ireland, mainly on day 1 for day 2 basis. The company is also responsible for the line-haulage operation from the port of Felixstowe. Other value-added activities include pre-delivery customer calls, 2-man deliveries, provision and operatiion of heavy lifting equipment and removal and disposal of packaging. Norbert Dentressangle is also responsible for managing the delivery of aftermarket parts both to engineers and customers, primarily via parcel carriers. Further value-added activities include inspections and assessments of returns and refurbishment of products. Norbert Dentressangle will relocate into a space of 80,000 sqft in its new shared-user facility in Aylesford, Kent. Ceva Logistics has won a 2 year contract with Bormioli Rocco Group. Ceva will be responsible for post-production logistics activities for Bormioli products as well as handling and unloading the products into outgoing vehicles at the customer warehouse in Trezzano Sul Naviglio, near Milan. Ceva will also manage the transportation of products to Ceva's shared-user logistics hub located in San Pietro Mosezzo, near Novara. At this location, Ceva will manage the unloading, discharge, storage, picking and delivery to Bormioli final customers. Advanced Supply Chain has appointed Kevin Townend as its new Head of Logistics. Kevin will be responsible for supporting Advanced Supply Chain's strategy for growth, facilitating a rise in turnover from £25 million to £35 million in 2012. Bidvest Logistics has extended its contract with Gondola Group for a further 3 years. Bidvest Logistics will supply a multi-temperature range of foods to restaurants in the UK. Asda sets out plans to expand its logistics network with new and expanded distribution centres as part of a £500 million investment over 2012. It will have a new site in Rochdale that will cater for chilled and frozen food to stores along the M62 corridor. It will replace its existing distribution centre in Scotland with a larger site for deliveries to stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland. It will also upgrade and convert the Netto site at South Elmshall (near Wakefield) into an ambient cross-dock centre within its own distribution network. Asda also plans to open another 25 new stores. Waitrose has postponed the opening of its £35 million distribution centre at Leyland (Lancashire) until Summer 2013. Panalpina has won a multi-year contract with BP for oil and gas freight forwarding services. Panalpina will provide transport services for air, ocean, road and rail, freight management and other logistics services connected with the exploration and production of oil and gas. Dachser has won a warehousing and distribution contract with Emmi. Dachser will provide warehousing and distribution for the German market and will handle logistics for dairy and fresh food products as well as Swiss cheese for Emmi. Emmi Germany will occupy around 3,000 pallet spaces at Allgau logistics centre in Memmingen. Here the products, over two-thirds of which will come from Switzerland will be consolidated with products from Germany, Italy or other countries, picked and delivered to customers in Germany and parts of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. 20th January 2012 Keswick Enterprises has entered into a new partnership to develop 3rd party supply chain management services in Poland. It has linked up with Vector Global Logistics Sp Zoo based in Gdynia, Poland to create a new logistics venture called Keswick Vector Supply Chain Management Polska Sp Zoo which is 52% owned by Keswick Enterprises and 48% by Vector Global Logistics. This new venture will focus on developing warehousing and transport related supply chain management activities in Poland. Wim Bosman has won a 3 year contract with Beiersdorf. Currently Wim Bosman handles the distribution for the Benelux region from the distribution centre in Hamburg, Germany. Beiersdorf has now decided to move all warehousing activities for Benelux to Wim Bosman in The Netherlands. Wim Bosman will operate its warehousing activities, offering picking and packing services as well as additional value-added service activities. Stobart is focusing on restructuring and improving its chilled and warehousing operations which are performing below the last year. DB Schenker Logistics has won a warehousing and transport contract with Coca Cola in Poland. DB Schenker will integrate previously owned satellite distribution centres for Coca Cola's finished goods into the existing DB Schenker warehouses. Rhys Davies' Commercial Manager Gary Phillips has taken over responsibility for the freight forwarding division with a brief to significantly expand its operations during the next 2 years. Wincanton has won a 5 year contract with Premier Foods. Wincanton will provide warehousing and associated services at its Corby site. The Fiege Group has won a warehousing, packaging and distribution contract with JVC Kenwood Ukraine. Gefco has been named European Logistics Company 2012 and UK Automotive Logistics Company 2012 by the Institute of Transport Management. Norbert Dentressangle has won a contract with Tokheim. Norbert Dentressangle transports finished products on a pre-scheduled basis from its UK manufacturing facility in Dundee, Scotland to its plant in Grentheville, France. A vehicle then collects components from Tokheim's supplier in St Vignor de Monts before consolidating loads at Norbert Dentressangle's hub in Ouistreham and crossing the channel for the return journey to Scotland. Fiege has won a contract with Media Markt in Erfurt (Germany). The Fiege centre in Erfurt will be home to the delivery, inspection, storage, order picking, packaging and despatch via various service providers of Media Markt's online-traded products in Germany. Fiege will also carry out reverse logistics and value added activities such as bundling and set building. Arvato has won a 3 year e-commerce contract with Sony Music UK. Arvato will carry out warehousing and distribution direct to consumers and also handling returns from Arvato's distribution centre in Milton Keynes. 16th January 2012 APC Overnight has appointed Syed Ziaullah as its new Chief Executive following the recent retirement of Ivor Skinner. Ceva Logistics has announced Inna Kuznetsova as its new Chief Executive Officer from the 30th January 2012. Inna will head the global sales organisation and join the Executive Board of the company. Wincanton is targeting collaborative transport systems and multi-channel retailing as key areas of growth over the coming year following the sale of its Continental business. Ceva Logistics has won a 5 year contract with La Scuola S.p.A. Ceva will manage the warehousing activities for subsidiary materials and school books intended for primary and secondary schools in Italy. Ceva will also handle inbound and outbound products, the preparation of orders and the transport of books to warehouses, dealers and agents. Ceva will also be responsible for the returns, ordinary and special waste handling and pricing and labelling changes for individual books. Eurovision Logistics has joined with the Fortec Distribution network. Eurovision Logistics serves hundreds of clients, predominantly in Hull and the surrounding area. Delamode has opened a consolidation warehouse at Urziceni (nr Bucharest). The warehouse is utilised for the receipt of garments direct from manufacturers across the Balkan regions, which are consolidated at the hub and distributed onwards to retailers in the UK & Europe. 9th January 2012 Fiege has won a contract with Dollken. Fiege has taken over the in-house logistics and carries out value-added activities for Dollken Kunststoffverarbeitung based in Gladbeck, Germany. Gefco has won a contract with HPC Healthline. Gefco will provide a 24 hour, 5 day a week nationwide transport service for its medical products and equipment in the UK. Bibby Distribution has won another contract with Halo Foods. The new contract covers transport frm its manufacturing plant at Newport and Tywyn in Wales. Bibby operates from production facilities in Middlesex, Leicester, Newport and Tywyn into retail and foodservice outlets across the UK. Addtional warehousing activities are also in Southall, Middlesex. 3rd January 2012 Great Bear has appointed Paul Goodson as its new Chairman from the 1st January 2012. Paul succeeds Jim Lockhart who is retiring after having served as Chaiman since the business was founded in 1994. Ceva Logistics has won a 5 year contract with Eurofred. Eurofred is a distributor of equipment for the air conditioning, solar thermal energy and industrial refrigeration markets in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and the UK. Ceva will manage the receipt, inspection and warehousing of the products at Eurofred's facility at Vila-Rodona (near Tarragona). Ceva will also prepare orders and containers destined for Eurofred's customers, suppliers and other logistics facilities. Agility Spain has won a contract with Actavis. Agility will transport pallets of medicines from Actavis' production site in Malta to 15 European countries for its patent expiry product launches. London City Bond has won a contract with the Hong Kong Wine Exchange. London City Bond will provide specialist storage services to the Exchange's collectors and investors from its warehouses in Tilbury and from its Vinotheque operation in Staffordshire. |
